Our mission is to automate coding. The first step in our journey is to build the best tool for professional programmers, using a combination of inventive research, design, and engineering. Our organization is very flat, and our team is small and talent dense. We particularly like people who are truth-seeking, passionate, and creative. We enjoy spirited debate, crazy ideas, and shipping code.

We're in-person with cozy offices in North Beach, San Francisco and Manhattan, New York, replete with well-stocked libraries.

Cursor is building the future of coding. Our AI code editor and agents are just the beginning – we're solving the hardest engineering and design problems in AI automating coding, and making these capabilities accessible to everyone.

About the role

We're looking for a product designer who can help us 10× the product. You'll work directly with the founding team to design core features and experiences that make AI-first software development feel intuitive and powerful. This means designing for professional developers today while creating pathways for builders of tomorrow.

What you'll do

  • Design and ship features that define how humans and AI collaborate to build software

  • Own end-to-end design for key product areas – from initial concept through implementation and iteration

  • Solve complex UX challenges at the intersection of AI capabilities and human intent

  • Create interaction patterns and design systems that scale across increasingly sophisticated AI workflows

  • Partner closely with engineers to ensure high-quality implementation and rapid iteration

  • Use data and user feedback to validate designs and identify opportunities for improvement

You may be a fit if

  • You have 3+ years of product design experience shipping software people love

  • You've designed developer tools, technical products, or complex enterprise software

  • You think in systems and can balance immediate user needs with long-term product vision

  • You're comfortable with ambiguity and can drive clarity through design

  • You can move between high-level strategy and pixel-perfect execution

  • You understand or are eager to learn about code, AI, and how developers work

  • You have strong opinions but hold them loosely – you're open to being wrong
