Billing and payments

Understand your billing cycle, renewals, payment methods, and invoices.

How does my billing cycle work?

Your cycle starts on the date you subscribe. It renews monthly or yearly based on your plan.

  • Individual plans renew on your signup date
  • Teams plans renew on the team signup date
  • Renewal dates stay the same when members are added or removed

When does included usage reset?

  • On The X Subscription, your included pool for Cursor models refreshes weekly, separate from your billing cycle. Prepaid credit doesn't reset with it; each top-up stays available until used or until it expires (currently 365 days after purchase)
  • On legacy individual plans, included usage resets monthly with your billing cycle
  • Legacy Teams plans include usage per paid seat each cycle, based on seat type (Standard or Premium)
  • Usage beyond included amounts is paid from prepaid credit on The X Subscription, or appears as on-demand usage on legacy plans

What can create charges before renewal?

You can see charges between renewal dates when one of these events happens:

  • A manual or automatic top-up adds prepaid credit (The X Subscription)
  • On-demand usage is billed after included usage is consumed (legacy plans)
  • Team seats are added mid-cycle and charged pro-rata
  • Team seat removals can create billing adjustments or credits

How do seats work on a Teams plan?

Cursor bills teams per active paid seat, not pre-allocated seats. Seat price depends on the seat tier: Premium, Super, or Ultra on The X Subscription, or Standard or Premium on legacy Teams plans.

  • Adding a member mid-cycle creates a pro-rated charge
  • Removing a member who used credits keeps the seat occupied until the cycle ends
  • Billing adjustments appear on a future invoice as credit when applicable

How do I update my payment method?

On The X Subscription:

Go to grok.com/dashboard/billing and open Payment details to add a payment method, change your default, or remove one.

Legacy plan billed on cursor.com:

  1. Go to cursor.com/dashboard/billing
  2. Click Manage in Stripe to open the Stripe billing portal
  3. Update your card in the Stripe billing portal

The billing page does not show Manage in Stripe for an App Store plan or a plan bought in the Grok Bot Android app.

Billed through the App Store:

Apple manages the payment method. Update the card in your Apple ID subscriptions. See Subscribe from the iOS app.

Billed in the Grok Bot Android app:

Google Play manages the payment method. Manage the card in the Google Play app. See Subscribe from the Android app.

On an App Store plan, or a plan bought in the Grok Bot Android app, on-demand usage uses a separate card on the web. Add or change it under Spending on cursor.com/dashboard. See On-demand usage for mobile subscriptions.

How do I update billing details for invoices?

For a plan billed on cursor.com, update your company name, address, and tax details in the Stripe billing portal. Changes apply to future invoices. An App Store receipt comes from Apple. A receipt for a plan bought in the Grok Bot Android app comes from Google Play. See Subscribe from the iOS app or Subscribe from the Android app.

Where do I find invoices and receipts?

On The X Subscription:

Go to grok.com/dashboard/billing and open the Invoices tab. Subscription charges and top-ups are both listed, and you can download each one.

Legacy plan billed on cursor.com:

Go to cursor.com/dashboard/billing and click Manage in Stripe. In the Stripe portal, open any invoice to view or download the PDF. See Invoices for details.

Billed through the App Store:

Apple sends the receipt for the subscription. See Subscribe from the iOS app.

Billed in the Grok Bot Android app:

Google Play bills this subscription, and Google sends the receipt. See Subscribe from the Android app.

On-demand usage on either plan is billed to the separate card on your dashboard, so those invoices are not store receipts. Open cursor.com/dashboard/billing and scroll to Invoices.

What if I still need billing help?

Contact support while signed in to your Cursor account and include invoice IDs, dates, and a short issue description.
