Set up your first Grok Bot, give it a focused role, and start with a simple task.
How do I create my first Bot?
- Open Grok Bot and sign in with your Cursor account.
- Choose Create your own.
- Give your Bot a short name.
- Add one clear title that describes its main job.
- Write a description of the work it should do, the sources it should use, and when it should ask for your approval.
You can update the name, title, and description later from the Bot's settings.
For example:
Name: Research
Title: Weekly product researcher
Description: Research one product topic at a time. Use the web and the documents I share. Summarize the main findings with source links, and ask before changing any external service.
What should I ask my Bot to do first?
Start with a short task that has a clear result and does not change an external service. Attach a document and try:
Summarize this document in five bullets. List every date, decision, and open question in a separate section. Cite the section for each item. Do not change the source file.
Review the answer and send a follow-up if you want a different format. Your Bot keeps its role and context, so you can return to it for related work.
How do I give my Bot access to a tool?
Connect a plugin when your Bot needs Gmail, Google Calendar, Slack, Notion, or another supported service. Follow the Connect card in chat, or open Plugins from the sidebar. See Connect plugins.
For a website without a plugin, open the Bot's computer and sign in yourself when prompted. The Bot does not see the password you enter. Your Bots share the same cloud computer, including its files and browser sessions.
What should I check before my Bot takes action?
Read each approval card before you continue. Use Allow once while you learn how the Bot handles a workflow. Choose Deny when the proposed action is not what you asked for.
Keep passwords and API keys out of chat. Use the secure prompt when the Bot asks for a credential. See Store secrets securely.
What should I do after my first task?
Keep the Bot focused on one type of work. Tell it which parts of the result you want to reuse, such as a report format or a list of sources.
Once the workflow produces the result you expect, you can turn it into a routine or connect more tools.
