Grok 4.5
Grok 4.5 is Cursor's flagship model, built together with SpaceXAI for coding and other knowledge work.
What is Grok 4.5?
Grok 4.5 is the smartest model Cursor has trained. It handles difficult, long-running tasks that require creative tool use, whether in software engineering, data science, finance, legal work, or anything else you do on a computer.
While Composer focuses on code, Grok 4.5 is a general model. It is also better at coding than Composer.
What are Grok 4.5 effort levels?
Grok 4.5 is Cursor's first model with effort levels: high (the default), medium, and low. Higher effort lets the model think longer and harder on difficult tasks. Composer has no effort levels.
On Cursor Start, Grok 4.5 is fixed at medium effort in non-fast mode. You cannot change the effort level or enable Fast mode on that plan. Upgrade to Pro or higher to choose effort levels and Fast mode.
When should I choose Grok 4.5 over Composer?
- Choose Grok 4.5 for the hardest tasks. It is Cursor's most capable model.
- Choose Composer for everyday coding where speed and cost matter most. Composer Fast is faster than Grok 4.5 Fast.
Grok 4.5 costs more than Composer. See how much Grok 4.5 costs for token rates.
Which plans include Grok 4.5?
Every paid plan includes access to Grok 4.5: Start (India), Pro, Pro+, Ultra, Teams, and Enterprise. Grok 4.5 draws from the Cursor Models usage pool included with your plan. On Start, Grok 4.5 runs at a fixed medium effort level in non-fast mode.
Where can I use Grok 4.5?
Grok 4.5 is available everywhere you use Cursor:
- Desktop app
- Web and cloud agents
- CLI
- SDK
- Automations
- iOS app
Which regions support Grok 4.5?
Grok 4.5 is available in every country where Cursor normally offers models. See regions and model availability for what to do if a model is unavailable in your region.
Is Composer being deprecated?
No. Composer remains Cursor's fast, cost-efficient model for everyday coding.
What happens to other Grok models?
Older Grok models are deprecated when Grok 4.5 launches. Enterprise teams that previously blocked SpaceXAI or Composer models need to enable Grok 4.5 before members can use it.
Enterprise team admins manage model access at cursor.com/dashboard/team-settings/models. See model and integration management for details.
